TAG Semiconductor was acquired by
Temic Semiconductors. In March, 1998, the Temic Semiconductors division of
Temic Telefunken Microelectronic GmbH was sold by parent company
Daimler-Benz A.G. to Vishay Intertechnology, Inc., which kept the discrete
active components business unit and immediately re-sold the integrated
circuits business unit to Atmel Corporation. Temic Semiconductors, now a
wholly-owned subsidiary of Atmel Corporation, designs and manufactures
integrated circuits to serve the communications, automotive, data processing
and aerospace markets using CMOS, BiCMOS, Bipolar and SiGe technologies. In
August, 2000, the Temic Semiconductors subsidiary of Atmel Corporation was
renamed Atmel Wireless & Microcontrollers. Subsequently, Atmel Wireless &
Microcontrollers was absorbed into the core product lines of Atmel
Corporation and no longer exists as a separate entity. Atmel Corporation,
founded in 1984, is a worldwide leader in the design, manufacturing and
marketing of advanced semiconductors, including advanced logic, nonvolatile
memory, mixed signal and RF integrated circuits. Atmel is one of the few
companies capable of integrating dense nonvolatile memory, logic and analog
functions on a single chip using advanced BiCMOS, CMOS and Silicon Germanium
(SiGe) technologies.
The types of products
manufactured by TAG Semiconductor (-> Temic -> Atmel) include Silicon
Controlled Rectifiers, Discrete Semiconductors.
